Backyard orchards are a fundamental part of an edible landscape. Growing berries and tree fruits not only assure an abundance of fresh delicious fruit throughout the growing season but also add beauty and interest to your landscape. We design and install backyard orchards that include blackberries, raspberries, blueberries, elderberries, currants and gooseberries, grapes and strawberries. We can help you decide on the best varieties for our northern climate, identify where they should be planted on your property and which trellis system is appropriate. A backyard orchard also includes tree fruits such as apples, plums, apricots and peaches. We are particularly interested in Slender Spindle pruning for the backyard orchard because with dwarf trees spaced every 4' on a trellis you can have 5 varieties in a 20' row!
